About the Instructor

Kendall Kelsoe has studied Bujinkan Taijutsu / Ninpo since 1984. 

Kendall's unique teaching style combines his extensive knowledge of various martial arts with fencing, archery, and knife throwing, and incorporates elements of Japanese, Celtic, and Nordic history, culture, and swordsmanship.
He has experience as a professional sharpener and antique weapon restorer. He makes his own tsuka (hilts) and saya (scabbards). He practices the arts of tsuka maki (hilt wrapping) and is a togishi (sword polisher). 

Kendall's Teachers

 Kendall is also a certified Monadnock PR-24 Baton Instructor and teaches courses in security tactics, firearm retention and unarmed self-defense.

Other Talents and Experience

Kendall is a published photographer, author, artist and cartoonist.
Published photography includes articles appearing in Ninja Magazine, Karate International, Ura and Omote, The Japan America Society Newsletter, American Bujinkan Dojo newsletter "The Source" and Dr. Kelly Hill Sensei's book ''Ninja Knife Fighting''.

Kendall is a well-known lecturer and taught a course on sword history at the University of Texas, Austin. He and his students have appeared on local television broadcast shows in Austin, Texas including "Citizens Live" and "Jim Swift on the Porch", demonstrating the fighting arts and ancient weaponry.

Kendall has consulted and taught theatrical combat.  He has made prop weapons for local independent films. Vampires and Zombies are in fashion!

Kendall has demonstrated blacksmithing at the Bachman Pioneer Farm for the Austin Historical Society under the direction of Mr. Robert Swim.

Kendall loves to scuba dive and has done so since 1968. He currently is a certified Rescue Diver, and holds certifications from N.A.U.I., P.A.D.I. and N.A.S.D.S..
